Rib Crib Golf Tournament raises money for the American Cancer Society!
Tulsa, OK – The 9th annual Rib Crib Golf Invitational saw golfers tee it up and beat the heat at the Golf Club of Oklahoma in Broken Arrow in support of the American Cancer Society on Monday, June 6, 2011.
The final check presented to the cause was for over $46,000, surpassing the initial goal of $40,000. All monies raised will go towards cancer research and early detection of cancer.
"Last year, we were able to serve more than 5,200 cancer patients in our Oklahoma region. Such services included: transportation, information, wigs, lodging, support programs, and summer camps for children with cancer" says Maranda Figueroa, Community Manager for the American Cancer Society. Our patient service programs and services guide individuals and families through a cancer diagnosis and toward recovery.
As the largest private source of cancer research funding, we help reveal the causes of cancer, determine how to prevent it and discover new ways to cure it. Currently, we are funding two cancer research grants at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center totaling more than $1.4 million.
More than 11 million cancer survivors are alive today in the United States, thanks in part to some aspect of the American Cancer Society's long history of lifesaving work.
Presented by the F&M Bank and Trust Company, the event began with a 10:00 a.m. shotgun start and scramble format. Golfer enjoyed two All-You-Can-Eat BBQ luncheons on the course. Each participant had a chance to win a 2011 Range Rover Sport sponsored by Land Rover of Tulsa.
